Advent Calendar

December 1st...
the Christmas countdown begins...
...and to celebrate this time of year,
the NVO handcrafted, for us, a unique advent calendar.
Oh, and how I love the NVO, and oh how I love to count...
I'm not an accountant for nothing, ya' know. ;-)

I have filled the odd number bags for the NVO and
the NVO has filled the even numbered bags for me.

According to the"rules",  the bags are filled with holiday
activities that require minimal or no cost.
(I like counting the money we save, too. :-)  )

The top comes off to reveal a special surprise for December 25th and for storage of the bags, tree and people the other 11 months of the year.

Little people made in our likeness.
(Oh my, don't we look young?
And doesn't the NVO look like he's got that Donald Trump thing going on?)

For "Day 1", there was a note for the NVO to open
a package under the tree labeled with the number "1".
The package contained a "Peanuts" puzzle.
Tonight we will watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and begin on the 550 piece puzzle of Snoppy sitting atop his holiday decorated dog house.
I think I will light the "spruce" candle.
We are so excited!
The NVO also made advent boxes for all our children, his sis, bro and our mothers.
See this recent post for a scary black one made for #3 and #3a.
One lucky family, fo' sure!

24 Days Left and Counting...
(The NVO is so creative so I wonder what he has in store for me for tomorrow?)
Merry Christmas Countdown Everyone!

  3. I know this sounds selfish, but I can't wait to see what you GET tomorrow. I hope you do a post every day until Christmas...it would be so fun to see your ideas. Enjoy the movie!

  4. That is the most unique advent set-up I have ever seen. And such a fun idea to switch back and forth with the gift giving. I hope the rest of the family is having just as much fun as the two of you. Best wishes for a wonderful weekend. Tammy

  5. Thank you all for your interest in the advent calendar. K - I will take you up on your suggestion and try to post each day. Definitely both our mother's are enjoying the advent calendar. Brought tears to their eyes! They received a small tree on the first day and each day thereafter they are to decorate the tree with a nativity ornament placed in the little bags...Baby Jesus (1.2 ounce) is in the 24th. ;-)

  6. I know I've already said this, but you two are so creative. And the hair on the little figures is perfect (I don't see any Trumpishness).

I love Peanutty stuff and the Christmas special just chokes me up every time I watch it. Linus on the stage reciting from the Gospel of Luke is priceless.

Thanks for sharing your Advent fun!

  7. Sue - You are right, Linus reciting is priceless- "That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown". I love that line. Thank you for the nice compliment, we are having fun with the calendar - takes the pressure off when it's only an every other day responsibility.
