Cando Week Ending 3: Treats

I CAN have treats.
I CAN drink decaf with cream dollops and nibble on sugar-free caramel candies.

I have been trying to avoid sweets, including treats with artificial sweeteners; however,
with all the holiday goodies around I found I needed an alternative treat; one I would enjoy.
Here's is a treat that fit the bill and helped me make it through the week:

I found these at the Dollar Store (score!) and they are so yummy!
They are less than 10 calories each. (Score again!)
They come in four flavors:
Original Caramel
Caramel Apple
Caramel Cinnamon
Caramel Coffee (not shown)
I CAN pop one in my mouth when I am having a sweet craving
and it satisfies that sweet tooth.

I generally indulge in three a day, but I think one day I had ten!
It was a tough day.

These treats coupled with a festive container could make a cute gift,
but it's tricky to give something like this as sometimes these types of gifts
can be viewed as insensitive and some folks might take it as a hint.
I would be thrilled to receive something like this, but I better not give it. ;-)

I enjoy the caramels with a cup of decaffeinated coffee,
especially in the evening while chatting with the NVO.
The coffee is especially good with a couple of dollops of frozen heavy organic cream;
a trick I learned from my friend "K".
She puts these in her yogurt for extra creaminess.
Made like this:
Whip up some heavy cream (a little cinnamon was added this time)
and create dollops on a cookie sheet and freeze.
Once frozen, place in bag in freezer.
Grab one or two with a cup of coffee and enjoy!
(Also cools the coffee off a bit, which is nice.)

This morning's stats and thoughts:
141.4
Made it...but this was a difficult week;
thank goodness for the treat alternative.

Charted Progress:

Goals:  5 lb loss the first week and 1.5 lb per subsequent week.

If anyone wants this chart with the formulas, I would be happy to send the Excel worksheet.
Email me at digger.lizzie@gmail.com and I will gladly send it and you can customize it to your own plan.
The chart automatically updates with each entry from the data on the left.

Now go treat yourself!

  1. Very inventive Astri! I especially like the frozen rosettes of cream - what a great way of limiting consumption and they look so pretty floating on your coffee! Again it's these kinds of things that make a plan like yours sustainable for longer than a few days. Well done you! You must be so heartened by your progress - really glad it's working so well for you. E x

  2. Excellent progress again. I'm usually not too trilled with sugar free products, but I might try those.

  6. In the UK those sweets are marketed as a sweetie you get from your grandparents as a special treat. We use them as car sweets for long journeys and I can verify they are lovely. You are doing well Astri! Not too many of those cream stars now...

  7. Thank you all for the encouragement and yes, Jo - I seem to remember hard candies when visiting grandparents, as well. :-) Maybe they don't get visitors often enough and these will keep.
