Week Ending 6 of CANDO 2014: Weights

I CAN lift weights for 15 minutes a day, three times a week,
even if it means entering the man-cave garage exercise room. ;-)
I have what I need to start thanks to loaners from the NVO.
Looks like it's time to rev it up a bit, and although I do not like to lift weights, the necessity,
over age 50, is becoming more and more apparent with each year.

This is a great book that the NVO found on
He purchased the one for men for himself and this one for me.
(We love exercise gifts don't we? ;-) )

I will use this book as my guide.
So I figured 15 minutes - three times a week is a good place to start.
It's doable!

For the next three weeks I will do this work out.
I'll tell you a little secret...this morning I did it in my pj's....shhhhh.

So here's this morning result.
Before the work-out. haha.
137.6, a .4 lb gain.
Uff Dah!
Well it's a wonder with Valentine's Day donuts, cake and cookies that it isn't worse!
And there was our annual ice fishing trip, although eating trout certainly helps.
Excuses, excuses, excuses!!!
OK, it really is time to rev it up this week.
Oh, and the good news, I had a couple of friends notice the weight loss and said I looked healthy!
That will keep me going.

Here are today's charts:

I report the following:
Oops, the red line is getting farther from the blue line.
It's time for another downward trend...Spring is coming for crying out loud!

If you would like a copy of this Excel spreadsheet to customize to your own plan,
I would be happy to send it to you.
Just drop me an email at requesting it.

 CANDO homies report the following:
They are all trending downward.
Ruff reports that her clothes are looser -
now that's a great feeling!
And TA still lost in spite of a challenging week.
Have a good CANDO week and remember that the chart that includes
everyone is posted on the CANDO 2014 page here.

  1. You're doing great and the weight lifting is a great thing to add to your routine. Tony said it will actually help to speed up the weight loss, altho, on the flip side, as you build muscle, you will slightly gain MUSCLE weight. So if you do see a slight increase in your weight, don't freak out.

I actually like working out with weights. I have noticed tho that as I've gotten older, the muscle tone just isn't there anymore and I freak out over that myself. LOL.
