Office Closet Curtain

The office has moved to the den closet.
More on that later, but for now, the important details:
A curtain along the top shelf hides our books.

The curtain was in need of a little detail.
It looks so plain and drab.

So out comes the crochet hook.
A row of chains in turquoise, then a row of sc in turquoise, as well.
Then a row of shells (*1 sc, sk st, 5 dc in same st then sk st*, repeating from * to * to end)
in multi-colors leftover from the big Tilda yarn purchase
The perfect yarn for this trim!
Pinned in, then hand sewn on.

And there you have it!
No more plain and drab.

I like it.
Even the NVO likes it!
What do you think?

Week Ending 3 of CANDO 2014: Lemon Water and an Egg

I CAN basically fast for a day.
I knew this last week had not been all that great on the plan
so whether it was a good idea or not I fasted yesterday.
I drank decaf and lots of lemon water.
I did eat one hard boiled egg and three sugar free Werther's candies.
It was not difficult; I kept myself occupied with house and crochet projects. :-)
It CAN be OK as long as I don't go hog-wild today.
I started today with egg whites fried in coconut oil and some roasted green chilies.
Yum!

I CAN be consistent this week with Magnesium, as last week was hit and miss.
(Everything last week was hit and miss.)
I'm still taking B-12.

So here's this morning result.
138.4, a .4 lb loss.
A little short of my goal so far, but still moving down.
I'm 4.4 lbs away from what I weighed when we got married
and 18.4 lbs from my goal.
That's obtainable!

Here are today's charts:
If you would like a copy of this Excel spreadsheet to customize to your own plan,
I would be happy to send it to you.
Just drop me an email at digger.lizzie@gmail.com requesting it.

It's been reported that most of my CANDO homies are walking, which warms my heart to no end.
I've never heard anything bad about walking.
You know, you never hear anyone say "Oh, it's an old walking injury".

Here's where the CANDO homies are at:
(Hmmm....grammar gone astray, but I like the way that sounds, kind of like "Where ya' at, homie?)
Have a good CANDO week and remember that the chart that includes
everyone is posted on the CANDO 2014 page here.

Also remember the next two Monday CANDO progress reports will be updated on the CANDO 2014 page instead of a post, due to the Valentine's Day countdown.

YOU CANDO IT!

Breaking Bad Champagne

Offspring #3 "The Condition"
was engaged to be married over Thanksgiving weekend,
with a August 2014 wedding date.
This last weekend we attended an engagement party.

This is the gift the NVO prepared:
They are HUGE "Breaking Bad" fans.
It was fun!

Blocking Flowers

Poinsettia's that is:
Putting away the last of Christmas,
I thought it might be a good idea to block these for a few reasons:
1) so they are all ready for next year,
2) to see how they look blocked,
3) see if these would make good ornaments for the tree.

This is what I did:
Pulled out the handy-dandy blocking board I made for
crocheted snowflake blocking from this post.
Then gathered up the remaining supplies: pins, starch and bowl.
Soaked flowers in starch and and wrung out.
 Placed on board with pins.
Let them dry...and that's it:
AFTER and BEFORE

BEFORE:
(I like these too, but not for ornaments.)

AFTER:

Very easy and what a difference!

Poinsettia in-the-round pattern can be found here.

Here they are enjoying the sunshine. :)
We have sunshine today and it may be a good day for a long walk!

Have a sunny day!

Week Ending 2 of CANDO 2014: B-12 and Magnesium

I CAN add a supplement each week:
Last week I added a sub-lingual B-12 to my regimen each morning,
it's been suspected to help with energy and I think it did.
It's hard to tell, but I did not want a nap all week, which is unusual for me.
Since my doctor recommended it for me,
I CAN continue to take it...at least until it's gone.

The problem with too many changes at once is that I don't know
which changes are working, and then if I feel better I think I have to continue all of them.
This could be expensive to maintain and also too much time to maintain,
so then I end up quitting them all.
So I will add one a week (that I already own and that aren't expired) in hopes that most don't take longer than a week to feel a difference. I also realize some of the supplements aren't gong to make me feel different; that only a blood test can determine if they are working i.e., any reported cholesterol lowering supplements. And the effectiveness of those would be difficult to determine as the numbers could have changed due to diet and exercise.
Oh my, it's all so confusing!
Oh well, I  CAN take it easy and do what I can with what I have. ;-)

This week I will add chelated magnesium in the evenings.
It's reportedly good for my heart, blood, bones/teeth and bowels.
It probably won't make me feel better...but since I have them...

I CAN get magnesium naturally from leafy greens, nuts and seeds.
(It always seems like these foods keep showing up
whenever I am looking up something
that I need in my diet....hmmmm....food for thought....)

So here's this morning result.
Gosh weight loss has slowed down, but that's normal right?
138.8, a .8 lb loss.
Okay, next weigh-in is on next Monday the 27th.
It CAN be a good week!

Here are today's charts:

If you would like a copy of this Excel spreadsheet to customize to your own plan,
I would be happy to send it to you.
Just drop me an email at digger.lizzie@gmail.com requesting it.

And here are my homies:

Good work!

Good luck this week and remember that the chart that includes
everyone is posted on the CANDO 2014 page here.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK!!!

Rose Heart Pillow Pattern

Joy of joys!
I have finally finished the rose heart pillow pattern:
(Goodness! It's been a year in the making!)
It is listed in my Etsy shop:
Click here for the pattern without the instruction for the Granny Rose Square in the middle as many of you have those patterns already (Yay! and thank you!). :-)
And here for the pattern that includes the 3 steps for the Granny Rose Square.

Oh I imagine so many fun color options for this.

Make this fun heart pillow for a loved one or for yourself.
The 13 page pattern/tutorial is bursting full of step-by-step photos and diagrams.
It also includes video links for extra hints and assistance.
You can use any granny square for the middle of this pillow,
or you can use the rose granny square as shown.
Step 2, 3 and 4 of the granny rose can be purchased separately or together
with the heart pillow pattern under "Crocheted Rose Heart Pillow Pattern (with Granny Rose)"
In the event that you already have the granny rose square pattern
or would like to use a granny square of your own,

The pattern is easy to follow and even includes diagrams like this:

Put a smile on a loved one's face with this happy pillow that you can customize
to their style or your style by changing the colors or the size.

Have Happy Day!
I Heart You!

Mitered Dishcloth - Kitchen Upgrade II

More dishcloths for the kitchen drawer:
These three include a picot edge and a rose on the white one.

Pattern for mitered dishcloth can be purchased here.

Pattern for picot edge is included in the pattern that be can be purchased here.

Pattern for the rose can be purchased here.

The nice thing about the all white one is that it can be bleached.
Bleach does not work so well with the colors.

I made nine, so that...
I have six in the drawer and one at the sink for seven days of the week...

then the remaining two can be a gift or back-up:

Have a spiffy day!
