Lawn and Garden Shower - Part 4: Food

Brandon and Monique are getting married in August. :-)
Brandon is offspring #3 of our 6 children.

Sunday, June 22nd we had a shower for the lovely Monique.
I will post a series of posts about the shower.

Today's post is about the:
FOOD
A heart shaped rose and greenery cake.
(How to on this post.)

Chocolate eclairs.
These were purchased from the frozen section of the dollar store and then
embellished with some little coral rose buds and leaves.

Heart shaped Norwegian berlinerkranser,
recipe from this post.

Cupcakes to match.
These were filled with fresh squished raspberries and then strained.
The juice that was strained off was added to the coral frosting,
along with a little lemon extract.

We also served four kinds of quiches:
Asparagus and shrimp
Bacon, mushroom and cheddar.
Ham and three cheese.
Spinach, feta, mushroom and tomato.

Strawberry, clementine and mint salad from this post.

Garbanzo bean, lime, avocado and grape tomato salad.

And then a green salad with craisins, almonds, feta cheese with a
lite raspberry vinaigrette dressing.

Peach nectar mixed with champagne topped with mint leaves,
as well as a "green" drink for the so inclined.

My dear friend "K" came and helped with serving an clean-up,
as well as, ran errands for me during the week.
A very kind friend, indeed. It helped so much!

Things got hectic and I unfortunately did not get photos of the food.
Better planning next time!

Lawn and Garden Shower - Part 3: Decorations

Brandon and Monique are getting married in August. :-)
Brandon is offspring #3 of our 6 children.

Sunday, June 22 we had a shower for the lovely Monique.
I will post a series of posts about the shower.

Today's post is about the:
DECORATIONS

I made a run on the dollar store:
Green polka-dotted lanterns with silk coral roses from "The Dollar Tree"
(These lanterns even have a little light in them...battery powered.)
Balloons to match!

Roses hanging from each end of the bunting.

Centerpieces were three moss and dried flower heart baskets filled with fruits and vegetables,
trimmed with more of the dollar store roses.
These were given away at the end of the show for the "game" winners.

And a lantern with roses and balloons on a shepherds hook
 to signal to guests that,
"This is the Place".

Stay tuned because tomorrow is the....

FOOD!

Lawn and Garden Shower - Part 2: Easy Bunting How-To

Brandon and Monique are getting married in August. :-)
Brandon is offspring #3 of our 6 children.

Sunday, June 22 we had a shower for the lovely Monique.
I will post a series of posts about the shower.

Today's post is about the:
BUNTING
I made a super easy bunting decoration from 12 x 12 scrapbook pages
that read:

MONIQUE (heart) BRANDON

and here's how it was done:
Fold paper in half,

then half again,

and one more time.

Cut diagonally from this corner of two closed folds;
can you see it better here?

You'll get two connected triangles and two not-connected triangles from each sheet.
You can tape the not connected ones together if you choose.
They should look like this.
Make a heart, too.

With the Handy-Dandy Cricket I made the letters of each name;
bride and groom to-be.
Place one letter on each "triangle"

With ribbon of choice, glue ribbon between two sheets on the fold.

Space each letter about an inch apart.
(I suppose I could have ironed out the creases,
but they were not so apparent in real life. ;-) )
I did not get a good photo of the finished bunting due to the light.
There was a lot of curly ribbon on each side with coral colored roses hanging from the ribbon at different lengths.
It was super easy and a lot of fun to make!

The kiddos were delighted. :-)

Lawn and Garden Shower - Post 1: Invitation

Brandon and Monique are getting married in August. :-)
Brandon is offspring #3 of our 6 children.

Sunday, June 22 we had a shower for the lovely Monique.
I will post a series of posts about the shower.

Today's post is about the:
INVITATION
Some information has been changed to protect the innocent. ;-)

I printed these, two to a page, and them glued inside bright colored cards from JoAnn's for $4.

The flowery heart was printed by itself and placed on the front of the card.

Mailing labels were made to match:
These were made in Microsoft Word.
The font is Chisel.
The heart was in my image file;
I do not know where it came from, but
if someone has that information I would be happy to post it.

The invitation made way for the colors and theme for the shower.

Next stop "The Dollar Tree" for decorations. :-)
