More Salad

I'm trying to eat more salads:
This one was pretty good.

Here's what was used:
Costco "Power Greens" (Kale, Chard, Spinach)
Ken's Litehouse "Lite" Vidalia Onion dressing
Mandarin oranges

Veggies from garden and fridge:
tomato, red onion, broccoli, red pepper.

Roasted pecans.

Yum - Yum!!!

Granny Rose Bag

Remember those roses I was fiddling with from this post and this post?

Well, they finally turned into something:
 A granny rose bag!

This bag was based on the Granny Rose Pillow pattern found here.

It has a square bottom:

 It's lined inside:

With a handy dandy sturdy reinforced strap:

And a decorative and functional pull-cord:
(in case of an emergency ;-) )

and it all started with this:
Oh happy day when a project is done!

Got Tomatoes?

Does your tomato garden runneth over?

If so, may I boldly suggest:

Simple and Light Tomato and Cheese Thing

Thinly slice tomatoes and place them between two paper towels
for about twenty minutes to absorb moisture.
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and place 3-4 sheets of
defrosted frozen phyllo dough on top of parchment paper.

Spread a very thin layer of olive oil mayo on top of phyllo dough.

Sprinkle a thin layer of two different types of cheeses (shredded).
(I used mozzarella and cheddar)

Place tomatoes on top of cheese.

Sprinkle a little kosher salt or sea salt and ground pepper on top of tomatoes.

Spinkle Parmesan cheese on top of tomatoes.

Chiffonade fresh basil and scatter on top.

Bake 400 degrees (F) for 20 minutes and enjoy!
Makes a great snack or accompaniment to soup...

How about with Caprese Soup from this post?
Mmmmmmm....fresh garden tomatoes.
So good!

A Fox, A Raccoon and A Couple of Vikings

New babies with older siblings...
keeps me crocheting:
Viking helmets
for baby Hendrix and his brother Henry.
Pattern can be found here.
Raccoon and Silver Fox cowls
for baby Mai and her sister Aurora.
Pattern can be found here.
Pardon my absence and lack of getting around to visit you all...
life has joyously been filled with new life and
the hustle and bustle of the possibility of a geographical change,
but sadly, death, as well.
Crocheting seems to have a healing and calming affect.
Time will heal, too.
