Shortbread Flair

A New Shortbread Combination
 Yup, you saw it correctly...
rosemary and sea salt...
and boy, is it ever a taste sensation!

The passion for the shortbread continues, as well as, the passion for new combinations.
This one might be my favorite so far.

For additional variations and my father's famous shortbread recipe and story click here.
Then there's the peppermint and chocolate shortbread cookie here.

Have a Passionately Scrumptious Day!!!

    1. Let me know how it goes, Linda. There's a BBQ restaurant owner in our town that traveled all over England searching for the yummiest shortbread cookie and he came home deciding that my dad's was his favorite. If you do try this one, please let me know how it compares; he may have just been being nice.. :-)

  3. I once saw some lavender shortbread on a rather gorgeous blog whose name escapes me. This sounds even more exotic! Did you use the sea salt as topping, or mix it into the dough? (We're getting into the savoury category ... I'm thinking cheese would be good. Ooh, ooh - grana padano and dried cherries. Too weird?)

I love shortbread so much that I dursn't make it very often. Thanks for the inspiration - the next batch will have to include some add-ins.

    1. Ow, I think I saw the same one and pinned it, was it this one? http://www.mountainmamacooks.com/2011/08/lavender-shortbread-baby-shower-for-two-peas-and-their-pod/

That's gotta be my next try...it's even got lemon in it. Yum! I had lavender ice cream once and it was so good!

I mixed the sea-salt right in the dough, used unsalted butter and eliminated the coarse kosher salt that I generally use.

No, that does not sound weird...I had to look up grana padano and I think it's crystalline texture would bake up well with dried cherries.

I don't think chocolate and bacon will be included in my experimentation; although, might be good.

    2. Somehow chocolate and bacon seem to belong south of the Mason-Dixon line. :)
